1. Change Resolution to 720x480
You will need one of two programs to do this:
Launcherpro - LauncherPro «
ADW Launcher - ADW.Launcher | ADW Things
Using ADW Launcher, navigate to 'Menu > Add > Custom Shortcut > Pick your activity > Settings > Display Resolution. After doing this, you should be redirected to the home screen where a pop-up will ask to confirm this change. Press 'OK', and then tap the custom icon that is now on your screen.
Using LauncherPro, hold down on the home screen and you will see a pop-up that says 'Add to home screen'. Select this and choose Shortcuts > Activities > Settings > Display Resolution. After doing this, you should be redirected to the home screen where a pop-up will ask to confirm this change. Press 'OK', and then tap the custom icon that is now on your screen.
This will help with frame rates and speed when playing 2D & 3D games. It reduces the amount of pixels that is rendered by the phone but the quality of the display is not affected.
2. Reduce Background Data Input
For those who want to save on battery life and their data plan, navigate to Menu > Settings > Accounts and Sync and uncheck the 'Background Data' option. This will disable apps from receiving data when not being used, such as the Android Market.
3. Disable Automatic System Update Checks
Since the HTC Wildfire will not be updated to Gingerbread, there is no reason to worry about updating your Android version. Head to Menu > Settings > About Phone > System Software Updates and uncheck the 'Scheduled check' feature. This will save battery life and data usage.
4. Remove Unused Widgets
It goes without saying that the fewer applications and processes there are on your phone, the fewer programs that will be running and using data in the background. Delete all unnecessary widgets from your HTC Wildfire to keep the phone from having to load unessential programs.
