HTC Inspire: How to delete email in bulk

Heretofore, I have been deleting email one at a time. I read and respond to my email on my computer, so its all gone there. The same account on my HTC Inspire accumulates the email. After about three or more days the inbox is filling up.
How can I delete the contents of the inbox?

If you set up the e-mail as IMAP then it will be removed from your phone when you delete it from your computer as well.
