NOTE: For instructions on how you can back up app data, contacts, and media files on the HTC Desire 825, visit this thread.

Restore App Data:

  1. Make sure your device is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
  2. Open the apps drawer
  3. Go to “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
  5. Tap “Restore from HTC Backup”
  6. Follow the on-screen prompts to select an account and complete the restore

Restore Contacts from a Google Account:

  1. Access the “Settings” menu
  2. Under “Personal”, tap “Accounts & sync”
  3. If necessary, sign in with the Google account you used for backing up your contacts
  4. Access the account’s sync options and make sure “Contacts” is enabled
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync all”

Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:

  1. Connect the HTC Desire 825 to your PC via USB
  2. Swipe the “Status” bar down
  3. In the notification area, make sure the connection is set to “Media device (MTP)” or “disk drive”
  4. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  5. Locate the media files backed up on your PC and copy them
  6. Navigate to the phone storage and transfer the files, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folder(s) they originate from
  7. After the transfer is done, eject the phone’s virtual drive via system tray
  8. Safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:

  1. Establish a USB connection between the HTC Desire 825 and PC
  2. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down and enable “Media device (MTP)” or “disk drive” if necessary
  3. Open the file explorer on the Mac
  4. Use the explorer to locate the media files backed up on your computer
  5. Copy the files and transfer them on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory
  6. After the transfer is done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it in the “trash can”
  7. You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB port
