Turn On Power Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Tap “Power” under “Personal”
  4. Tap “Power saver”
  5. Check the boxes associated with the power saving features you want to enable
  6. When ready, tap the “Power saver” switch to enable the option

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Under “Phone”, tap “Display & Gestures”
  3. Tap “Brightness level”
  4. If necessary, disable “Automatic brightness”
  5. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease brightness
  6. Return to “Display & Gestures”
  7. Tap “Screen timeout” and select a lower timeout value, like “15 seconds”

Change Sync Settings and Disable Background Data:

NOTE: By changing your account’s settings to sync less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Access the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to, and tpa “Accounts & Sync”
  3. Select an app to disable background sync
  4. For additional sync options, tap an account type and select an account

Disable Connectivity When Unused:

NOTE: By disabling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS when these features are unused, you can improve battery life in the long run. To do this:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap the switches associated with “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” to turn off these features
  3. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  4. Tap “Mobile network sharing” and disable “Mobile hotspot”
  5. Return to “Settings”
  6. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Location” (GPS)
  7. Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”

Temporarily Switch to 2G Connectivity:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have access to a battery bank or a wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G.

  1. Access the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Mobile data”
  3. Tap “Network mode” and select “GSM only”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps can affect battery life even when unused, due to the fact that certain apps perform regular background processes. Thus, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Under “Phone”, tap “Apps”
  4. Access the “Downloaded” tab and select the desired app
  5. Tap “Disable” to turn the app off
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

Keep the OS Up to Date:

NOTE: Certain software updates can include battery life improvements, so it’s recommended to keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “About”
  3. Tap “Software information”
  4. Tap “Check now” and, if necessary, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the available update(s)
