NOTE: To learn how you can back up app data, contacts, and media files on the HTC 10, you can visit this thread.
Restore App Data:
- Make sure the HTC phone is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings and scroll to Personal
- Tap Backup and reset > Restore from HTC Backup
- Follow the on-screen instructions to select a backup account and complete the process
Restore Contacts from a Google Account:
- Open Settings
- Under Personal, tap Accounts & Sync
- If necessary, sign in with the Google account containing the backup
- Access the sync settings for your account and make sure Contacts is enabled
- Tap Menu > Sync all
Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:
- Connect the HTC 10 to your computer via USB
- At the prompt, enable Media device (MTP) / File Transfer (MTP), otherwise enable the option in the Notification area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer and locate the media file backups
- Copy the backups and transfer them on the phone storage (Preferably in the Media directory or the folder they originate from)
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and disconnect it from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Mac:
- Connect the HTC 10 to the Mac via USB
- Enable Media device (MTP) / File Transfer (MTP) at the prompt, otherwise enable the option from the Notification area
- Open the File Finder on the Mac and locate the media file backups on the computer storage
- Copy the files and transfer them back on the phone storage, preferably in the Media folder
- Once the transfer is done, drag the phones virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the trash can
- You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
