NOTE: For instructions on how to back up app data, contacts, and media on the HTC Desire 555, visit this thread.

Restore App Data:

  1. Ensure the phone is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal”
  4. Tap “Backup and reset” > “Restore from HTC Backup”
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts and select an account to complete the process

Restore Contacts from a Google Account:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts & Sync”
  4. Sign in with the desired backup account
  5. Access the account’s sync options and ensure “Contacts” is checked
  6. Tap “menu” > “Sync now”

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the HTC Desire 555 to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the computer
  5. Copy and paste the desired files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder or the directories they originate from
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:

  1. Connect the HTC device to the Mac via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  3. Launch the File Finder on the Mac
  4. Locate the media backup files and copy them
  5. Transfer the backup files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory
  6. After the transfer is complete, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the “Trash can” to eject it
  7. You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
