Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: In case one of your apps freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try solving these problems by clearing the app’s cache or data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes save files, user profiles, high scores, login and credit card information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Phone”
  3. Tap “Apps” and select the desired application
  4. Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache”
  5. If clearing the cache didn’t help, try “Clear data” > “OK” (check WARNING above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting the device, alternatively you can try solving these problems by clearing the device’s cache partition. This can have similar results as a factory reset without losing personal data located on the phone.

  1. Turn the phone OFF
  2. Next, press and hold “Volume down” and “Power” at the same time
  3. After the phone vibrates, release “Power”
  4. From the “hTC download menu” screen, release “Volume down” as well
  5. While in the menu, press and release “volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “reboot to bootloader”
  6. Press “Power” to confirm
  7. At the “No command” screen, press and hold “Volume Up” and “Power” simultaneously
  8. After gaining access to Android Recovery, release both buttons
  9. From the Recovery menu, press “volume down” to navigate to and highlight “wipe cache partition”
  10. Press “Power” to select the option
  11. After the cache is cleared, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power” to confirm

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the issue, you can check this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the device.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: In case you have installed a third party app that causes problems and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “Power” on the home screen
  2. From the “Power options” pop-up, tap and hold “Power off”
  3. When prompted with “Reboot to safe mode” tap “Restart”
  4. After the phone finishes rebooting, a “Safe Mode” label should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
  5. Next launch “Settings”
  6. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps”
  7. Go to “Downloaded” and select the desired application
  8. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to remove the app
  9. To exit Safe Mode, press and hold “power” and reboot your device as you would do normally
