Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open Settings
- Go to Display & Gestures
- Tap brightness level
- If necessary, disable Adaptive brightness
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease brightness
- Access Screen timeout for timeout options and select a lower value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: If you turn the phones connectivity off when not actively in use, you can avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Tap the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth switches to disable the features
- Access Location for GPS options and tap mode > Battery saving
- To disable hotspot, return to Settings and tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile network sharing and disable Mobile hotspot
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Go to Settings
- Access Personal
- Tap Power > Power saver
- Tick the boxes associated with the power saving options you want to enable
- When ready, tap the Power saver switch to enable the option
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve the energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Go to Settings
- Access Mobile data
- Tap Network mode
- Enable GSM only
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Access Apps
- If necessary, switch to Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Disable to turn it off
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall > OK
Change Sync Settings:
- Open Settings
- Go to Accounts & Sync
- Select an account
- Change the available settings to minimize sync
Keep the OS Update:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To do this:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Access System updates
- Tap Check now and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (the process will require at least one reboot)
