Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps doesn’t work as intended, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably etc. you can try to fix these problems by clearing the app’s cache and/or data.

WARNING! When clearing an app’s data, your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including login information, custom settings, save files etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app cache.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Phone”
  3. Tap “Apps” and switch to “All apps” if needed
  4. Select the desired app
  5. Tap “Clear cache”
  6. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (check the WARNING above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone doesn’t work properly and you’re considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing the issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition, which can have similar results to a factory reset but without the loss of personal data from the phone.

  1. Turn the phone Off
  2. Press and hold “Power down” then press and release “Power”
  3. At the black screen with blue and red text, release the volume button
  4. Press “Volume down” repeatedly to highlight “Reboot to bootloader”
  5. Press “Power” to select the option
  6. Once in the bootloader menu, use “volume down” to navigate and highlight “Boot to Recovery Mode”
  7. Press “Power” to select and boot to recovery
  8. Once in Recovery, press “Volume down” to highlight “Wipe cache partition” and press “Power”
  9. When prompted to “Reboot system now” press “Power” one last time

NOTE: If clearing the phone’s cache partition didn’t help, check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “Power”
  2. Tap and hold “Power off” from the pop-up window
  3. At the “Reboot to safe mode” prompt tap “Restart”. Note that once the phone reboots, a “Safe Mode” watermark should be shown in the lower area
  4. To remove an app, open “Settings” and go to “Apps”
  5. Switch to “Downloaded” if necessary
  6. Select the desired app and tap “uninstall” > “OK”
  7. Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting the phone normally
