    Hi, I just bought off ebay a vx6000, tried to activate it with prepaid which it did activate just fine so the ESN is good, but when im calling out and when the rep is trying to call me, i have no sound at all, do not hear nothing, when i call out it shows calling, but i hear nada thing, and i do have 4 bars of signal and it gives me a "call failed" its like the towers are not seeing my phone even if i have great signal .. any suggestions ?

    take the battery out and then reinstall just to be sure, it does sound like it's a defective phone they sold you....

    I did take it out and back in, i guess i got ripped, my own fault though, guy had 100 percent feedback but thats the chance you take with ebay.

    how long did you leave the battery out?
    try leaving it out over night, then fully charging it the next day, and try again

    that won't make a difference, as long as you power cycle the phone, that only helps if you have liquid damage and it doesn't always work.

    ok will give that a try overnight tonight, i guess it cant hurt, ill post what happens if anything tommorow.. I wanted to add, i cannot call 611 or 288 when i do get call failed, i wonder if its not programmed correctly or if someone screwed it up with a data cable before i bought it, ill try that thing overnight tonight and post my results but i wont hold my breath..sigh..

    Shannon assuming your on Verizon's network, try re-programming your phone just to be sure:

    dial *228 wait for the prompt and then choose option 1

    Hi tony, i do try and dial *228, and get call failed!!! I even have 4 bars of signal, thats my whole problem..sigh

    Take the battery off and look on the inside of the battery pack. There is should be a red and white dot on the bottom. If the dot is all pink that means the phone has had water damage. I believe the new 8100 has the same system also.

    Yes it does, i didnt know about that dot thing, so if i replace the battery will it be ok ?
