I got a brand new LG VX8100 and am curious if I should sell it and upgrade to a newer version? What do you guys think? Does this phone have less options then the newer version?

the newer version being the 8300?
the 8300 isnt quite as loud (had them side by side with same ringtones)
the 8300 also wont let you read text messages from the outside like you can with the 8100.
Im sticking with my 8100 until something better comes along (not the 8300...lol)

Re: Should I sell and upgrade?

Thanks for the reply, hmmm so theres not much of an advantage from the 8300? How do you like the 8100, I mean is there anything that irritates you? Anything you wish it had? I hear about this analog roaming, what is that? and does the 8100 have it? I read the reviews on CNET and the 8100 only got a 7 out of 10 as a pose to the 8300 got a 8.0 out of 10, this kinda makes me leary of keeping it... Can you change my mind?

Im a little new here and trying to decide if I should keep my 8100. My 8100 is brand new in the box with 350 pre paid minutes w/accesories. So im thinking I can probably sell it on ebay and get $150-$200, could I get something better for the money I can get for my 8100? Would it be worth it to sell my 8100 and upgrade with the money I get out of it?

Again thank you so much for replying...

The 8100 and the 8300 are really, really similar. I think the only difference as far as specs go is that the 8300 will support stereo bluetooth headsets. The lab tests showed that an echo created in bluetooth headsets in the 8100 was eliminated with the 8300, but the average user would never even notice. I'd say that if you have the 8100 already, it's not worth going to the 8300 unless you REALLY like the way it looks.

    Neither phone is analog capable.

Re: Should I sell and upgrade?

    Hi,
Just some additional input on the 8100 vs 8300. I have the 8100, and I think it's a great phone, and I love being able to read text messages on the front screen without opening the phone. I upgraded from the 6100, and I have all the features I need, and more on the 8100. I just recently got the 8300 for my wife, and the 2 big differences I see are that the 8300 can't read text on the outside screen, and the 8300 can run VZ navigator, which the 8100 can't. She needs the VZnavigator since she is on the road alot for her job, and it's a great tool. I have a pocket PC with navigation already, so I don't miss it on the 8100, and the 8100 is great at playing video, and mp3's.

No matter what phone you get, there is always going to be something that you think is just a bit better than the one you have.

If your somewhat new to all this, I would suggest you stick with the one you have until your a bit more comfortable with phones and what they can and cannot do, and what you want the phone to do.

After that, then you can go out and find something more to your wants and needs, and feel much more comfortable making the decision to get it.
