Hey all! I'm new here and hoping you can help me!

I have a 2 and a half year old LG Banter that I really really love and is discontinued everywhere. Recently, the keypad had been acting up once in a while and adding multiple characters when I only pressed once, so it would press 3 spaces instead of the only one I hit, which was bearable. Now, a couple days ago that problem evolved into something bigger (Or something bigger happened if it's not related). Pressing any key on my phone would reboot it. Any number, letter, button, anything.

After getting mad at it and hitting it on the table really hard it started working again. Then stopped again. So I started hitting it everywhere to make it work, which worked for a while. I then realized it worked in certain angles (the phone being held in a specific angle) more than it would other times. After trial and error, I guessed it had to be something inside that wasn't making contact properly and when I hit it and held it up in a certain angle, that contact would be met and would allow the phone to work briefly.

I opened it up today, piece by piece, hoping to find a piece I could solder back on properly, but to no avail. I put it back together, and now the problem has changed.
No keys work, EXCEPT the power on key, which is well recognized and works perfectly fine. I don't know much about electronics and circuitry but if ANYBODY knows where to check on the motherboard or what to look for when opening the phone to fix it, it'd be greatly appreciated!! All buttons on the num pad and also the keyboard, volume buttons and camera don't work either. Only the power on button.

Obviously I understand it probably has a separate connection because of its powering-on abilities, so my question remains : What to do to get my full keyboard access back???

If you need any other information, I'll be happy to oblige. I'll take pictures and videos upon request if needed. REALLY want this phone fixed, also gets me some nice electronics experience!
Sending it out to manufacturer is out of the question, I wish to fix it by myself and learn about it at the same time.

Thanks a lot for all your time.

    Sebastien

It sounds like something was shorting on the phone (any button caused a restart) and then when you took apart the phone, whatever connection was remaining was severed (keyboard doesn't work at all anymore). My guess is it's some kind of ribbon cable that goes from the keyboard to the pcb that is damaged. I would either take it to get repaired or get a new phone, honestly.

I have resigned to change the phone and I'm pretty content with my new acquisition. Thanks anyways for the help! Still have the old cell in a drawer, I might try to fix it later on.
