Sending or Receiving a Text

  1. Go to the Home screen and tap Messaging.
  2. In case the Messaging shortcut is no longer on the home screen, tap Apps -> tap Messaging.
  3. Then tap the New message icon located at the top right corner of the screen.
  4. In the To field, enter the contact name or phone number and select the desired contact from the drop-down menu if necessary.
  5. In the message field enter your message.
  6. When finished writing the message, tap Send.
  7. To exit the app, press the Home key.
  8. To open a text that you’ve just received, go to the Home screen and tap Messaging.
  9. Tap the message thread you want to read.
  10. The most recent message is now displayed.

Forwarding a Text Message

  1. Go to the Home screen and tap Messaging.
  2. In case the Messaging shortcut is no longer on the home screen, tap Apps -> tap Messaging.
  3. Tap the message thread where the message you wish to forward is located at.
  4. Tap and hold the message you would like to forward.
  5. Then tap Forward -> in the To field, enter the desired contact name or phone number.
  6. If necessary, edit the message and when finished, tap Send.

Send or Receive a Picture with Text

  1. Go to the Home screen and tap Messaging.
  2. In case the Messaging shortcut is no longer on the home screen, tap Apps -> tap Messaging.
  3. Tap the New message icon located at the top right corner of the screen.
  4. In the To field, enter the contact name or phone number.
  5. In the text field, enter your text.
  6. Then tap the Attach icon located at the bottom right corner of the screen.
  7. Select the type of attachment you’d like to send. In our case, we’re going to select Image, but the steps are pretty much the same for sending videos, recordings, etc.
  8. Tap the desired image location -> select the image that you want to send and tap OK.
  9. Then tap Send MMS.

Save a Picture from a Text

The images received in a message can easily be saved to the memory card or the internal storage of the LG Optimus L3.

  1. Go to the Home screen and tap Apps.
  2. Then tap Messaging.
  3. Select the desired message thread -> tap and hold the message where the image is located and tap Save attachments -> tap SD card -> then tap OK.

Updating the Emergency Alert Settings

  1. Go to the Home screen and tap Messaging.
  2. In case the Messaging shortcut is no longer on the home screen, tap Apps -> tap Messaging.
  3. Then press the Menu key -> tap Settings -> tap Emergency alert settings and make the desired changes.
  4. You can uncheck all the emergency alert settings, expect for the Presidential Alerts.
