Enabling Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and swipe to "Device"
  3. Touch "Battery" > "Battery saver"
  4. Tap the "Battery saver" switch and set it to "ON"
  5. To further customize how the mode works, mark or clear the check boxes associated with "Auto-sync", "Wi-Fi" etc.
  6. Optionally, tap the "Settings" icon next to "Brightness" and "Screen timeout" in order to customize these features

Lowering the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Touch "Settings" and go to "Display"
  3. Tap "Brightness" and drag the brightness slider to the left
  4. Press "Back" to return to the previous menu
  5. Tap "Screen timeout" and select a lower value, such as 15 or 30 seconds

Disabling Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and HotSpot:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Tethering & Networks"
  3. Tap "Mobile Hotspot" and set the feature' switch to "OFF"
  4. Press "Back" to return to the main "Settings" menu
  5. Swipe to "Personal" and tap "Location"
  6. Tap "Mode" and then select "Battery saving (Networks only)"
  7. Press "Back" twice to go back to "Settings"
  8. Tap the switches next to "Wi-Fi" and "Bluetooth" to disable these features

Changing the Sync Settings for Apps:

  1. While on the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Personal" and tap "Accounts & Sync"
  4. Clear the check box next to "Auto-sync data"
  5. Under "Accounts", select an account in order to change the sync settings for it

Disabling Background Data:

  1. Tap "Apps" from the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings" and tap "Mobile data"
  3. Press "Menu" and mark the "Restrict background data" check box
  4. Tap "OK" to confirm

Disabling / Uninstalling Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Although you may not use certain 3rd party applications that are installed on your phone, these apps can still affect your phone's battery performance, assuming that they run services and processes in the background while not open. As such, it's recommended that you disable or uninstall unused applications. To do so:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Tap "Settings" and swipe to "Device"
  3. Tap "Apps" and go to the "Downloaded" tab
  4. Tap and hold the desired application
  5. Tap "Force stop" to stop the app, or "Uninstall" to completely remove it

Toggling from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Tap "Tethering & Networks"
  3. Tap "Mobile networks"
  4. Mark the "Use only 2G networks" check box
  5. To switch back to 4G connectivity, clear the aforementioned check box

Keeping Your Phone up to Date:

NOTE: Smartphone manufacturers sometimes launch new software updates that increase the battery performance and improve the power management systems. As such, it's recommended that you keep your smartphone up to date. However, if no update is available, remember that following the steps below will give no results.

  1. Tap "Apps" from the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "System" and tap "About phone"
  4. Tap "Update Center" > "System updates" > "Check now"
  5. If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it on the LG G3 S
