Enabling Battery Saver Mode:

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Device" and tap "Battery"
  4. Touch "Battery saver" and set the switch to "ON"
  5. Select the battery level at which the saver mode enables automatically
  6. Clear or mark the check boxes next to the available battery saver options
  7. For more options, tap the "Settings" icon associated with "Brightness" and "Screen timeout"

Lowering the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Display" > "Brightness"
  3. Drag the "brightness" slider to the left to decrease brightness
  4. Press the "Back" key to return to the previous menu
  5. Tap "Screen timeout" and select a lower value like "15 seconds"

Disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth:

NOTE: A phone's connectivity features can have a big impact on your phone's battery life, reason why it's recommended that you keep these features turned off whenever they are not in use. To do so:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Tethering & Networks"
  3. Tap "Mobile Hotspot" and set the switch to "Off"
  4. Press the "Back" key to return to the "Settings" menu
  5. Swipe down to "Personal" and tap "Location"
  6. Tap "Mode" > "Battery saving (Networks only)"
  7. Press "Back" again to return to "Settings"
  8. Tap the switches associated with "Wi-Fi" and "Bluetooth" and set them to "Off"

Changing the Sync Settings for Apps:

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Personal" and tap "Accounts"
  4. Clear the check box next to "Auto-sync data"
  5. Under "Accounts," select the desired account type
  6. Change the sync settings for that account as you desire

Disable Background Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer and go to "Settings"
  2. Tap "Mobile data" and press "Menu"
  3. Mark the "Restrict background data" check box
  4. Press "OK"

Minimizing the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Although you may not use certain third party apps that are installed on your phone, some of these applications can still have an impact on your phone's battery performance, assuming that they run processes in the background etc. As such, it's recommended to disable these apps, or uninstall them

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and swipe to "Device"
  3. Tap "Apps"
  4. Go to the "Downloaded" tab
  5. Touch and hold the desired application
  6. Tap "Force stop" to disable the app
  7. To remove the app completely, tap "Uninstall"

Switching from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Go to "Settings" and tap "Tethering & Networks"
  3. Tap "Mobile networks"
  4. Mark the check box associated with "Use only 2G networks"

Update the Operating System:

NOTE: Manufacturers release new software updates that sometimes include fixes and improvements to your phone's battery life, so it's always recommended to keep your handset up to date. To check for updates:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "System" and tap "About phone"
  4. Tap "Update Center" > "System updates"
  5. Tap "Check now"
  6. If an update is available, follow any additional prompts to complete the process

NOTE: If no update is available, then following the steps above will have no effect on your phone's battery performance
