WARNING! Master resetting your phone will result in the deletion of all personal data stored on the internal memory. This includes downloaded content, ringtones, contacts, media files and so on. Content stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected.

Master Reset via Settings:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Press “Menu” > “List view”
  4. Swipe to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
  5. Mark the check boxes associated with “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”
  6. Tap “Backup account” and follow the on-screen steps to add a Google account
  7. Tap “Factory data reset”
  8. Optionally enable “Erase SD card”
  9. Tap “Reset phone” > “Next”
  10. Tap “Delete all” > “OK”

Master Reset via Hardware Keys:

NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, or is otherwise preventing you from applying the master reset from the settings menu, you can try master resetting it via recovery, by pressing a combination of hardware buttons. If the method above failed, try the following:

  1. Back up your data
  2. Turn off the smartphone
  3. Press and hold the “Volume Down” and “Power” buttons at the same time
  4. At the “LG logo” release and quickly re-hold the “Power” key (make sure “Volume down” is kept pressed)
  5. When you see “Factory data reset” on-screen, use “Volume Down” to navigate to and highlight “Yes”
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. Use “Volume down” to highlight “Erase all user data and restore default settings”
  8. Press “Power”, highlight “Yes” and press “Power” again

Check for Software Updates:

NOTE: After a fresh master reset you should check whether new software updates are available for download on your phone. To do so:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Press “Menu” > “List view”
  4. Tap “About phone”
  5. If necessary press “Check now” and follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the latest update
