Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- If necessary, tap Menu > List view
- Swipe to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Battery saver and turn the Battery saver switch to ON
- You can customize how battery saver works, clear or check the boxes associated with the available features (and select a battery percentage at which battery saving mode enables automatically)
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Access Settings
- If necessary, tap Menu > List view
- Swipe to Device and tap Display > Brightness
- Drag the brightness slider to the left
- Tap Screen timeout and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Disable Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth:
- Open the apps drawer and tap Settings
- Tap Menu > List view
- Under Wireless Networks, tap Tethering & networks
- Tap Mobile Hotspot and tap the Hotspot switch to OFF
- Return to the Settings menu
- Tap the switches associated with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to turn these features off
- Under the General tab in Settings, swipe to Personal
- Tap Location > Mode
- Select Battery saving (Networks only)
Disable Background Data:
- Access Settings
- If necessary, tap Menu > List view
- Tap Mobile data
- Tap Menu and select Restrict background data
- Tap OK
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can improve battery life by changing the sync settings to sync less data.
- Tap Apps and go to Settings
- Swipe to Personal and tap Accounts & sync
- Clear the Auto-sync data check box
- Select an account
- Change / disable / minimize the sync settings for the selected account
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Third party applications can affect your phones battery life even when you dont use them assuming that the apps perform regular processes in the background. As such you might be able to improve battery life by disabling or uninstalling unused third party apps.
- Go to the Settings menu
- If necessary, tap Menu > List view
- Swipe to Device and tap Apps
- Access the Downloaded tab
- Tap and hold the desired app
- Tap Force stop or Uninstall
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- From the Settings menu, swipe to Wireless Networks
- Tap Tethering & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Enable Use only 2G networks
Keep the OS Up to Date:
NOTE: Some software updates can include improvements to battery life, thus you should always keep your phone up to date. To check for updates:
- Go to Settings
- Switch to List view if necessary
- Scroll to Device
- Tap About phone > Update center
- Tap System updates
- Tap Check for update
- If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it
