Wipe App Cache / Data:
NOTE: If one of your applications doesnt work as intended, crashes, freezes, or simply takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the apps cache and / or data.
WARNING! Clearing an apps data will result in the deletion of all your personal information stored within the app, including settings, profiles, high scores, login and credit card information etc. As such, its recommended to try clearing only the cache, and clear data only if clearing the cache fails to give results.
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- If necessary, tap Menu and select List view
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Swipe to All and select the desired application
- Tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Clear data > Yes
Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party application that causes issues on your device and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app by first rebooting the phone into Safe Mode, where all third party apps are disabled by default.
- First, wake up the screen if necessary and unlock your phone
- Press and hold Power
- From the power options pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Restart in Safe mode prompt, tap OK
- Once the phone finishes rebooting, it should display a Safe Mode label in the lower-left area of the screen
- To remove an app, first go to Settings
- If necessary, tap Menu and switch to List view
- Scroll to Phone Management and tap Apps
- Swipe to the Downloaded screen and select the app you want to remove
- Tap Uninstall > OK to confirm
- To exit safe mode, simply press and hold Power and tap Power off and restart
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If you are experiencing issues with your phone, it crashes, freezes, or runs low on storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the cache partition. This can have a similar effect as a factory reset without losing any of your personal data.
- Open the apps drawer and go to Settings
- If necessary, tap Menu > List view
- Scroll down to Device and tap Storage
- Wait for the phone to finish calculating the data
- Once done, tap Cached data > Yes
- Wait for the cache to be wiped. Once done, you should see no, or a very little amount of space reserved for Cached data
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can factory reset the phone instead.
