Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the phones Settings menu
- Access the General tab
- Swipe to Phone management and tap Battery & power saving
- Tap the power saving switch to ON
- In addition, you can customize the way battery saving mode works by clearing or checking the available tick boxes, and by choosing a battery percentage at which the mode should enable automatically
Lower Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Go to the Display tab
- Under Other screen settings, tap Brightness
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen
- Return to Display, and tap Screen timeout to select a lower timeout value, such as 15 seconds
Turn Off Connectivity When Unused:
NOTE: By turning off the phones connectivity options when they are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run. To do this:
- Open the Settings menu
- If necessary, go to the Networks tab
- Under Connectivity, tap Tethering
- Tap Mobile hotspot and set the switch to OFF
- Go back to Settings and tap the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth switches to disable these features
- To change how GPS works, tap Location > Mode and select Battery saving (Networks only)
Temporarily Switch to 2G:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G connectivity:
- Open the Settings menu
- Go to the Networks tab if necessary
- Tap More under Connectivity
- Tap Mobile networks > Network mode
- Select GSM only
Disable Background Data:
- Open Settings
- Access the Networks tab
- Tap Mobile data > Menu
- Tap to disable Restrict background data
- Tap OK to confirm
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts settings to reduce the amount of data synced with your device, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Access the phones Settings menu
- Under Personal, tap Accounts & sync
- Turn off auto-sync data
- To adjust more sync settings, tap Accounts and, if applicable, select an account
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some of the third party applications on your phone can affect battery life even when they are not in use, due to the fact that certain apps perform regular background processes. As such, by turning off or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- If necessary, access the General tab
- Under Phone Management, tap Apps
- Access the Downloaded tab
- Tap and hold the desired application
- Tap Force stop to disable the app, or tap Uninstall > OK to remove it from your phone
Keep The Software Up To Date:
NOTE: Software updates can improve battery life, so its recommended to keep your devices OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab
- Tap About phone
- Tap Update center > System update
- Tap Check for updates. If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it
