Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: In case one of your applications doesnt work as intended; it crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you might be able to fix these issues by clearing the apps cache and data.
WARNING! Clearing an applications data will result in the deletion of all your personal information stored within the app, such as profiles, high scores, saved games, settings, login and credit card information etc. To avoid losing any personal data, try clearing only the applications cache.
- On the home screen, drag the Notification bar down
- Tap Settings in the upper-right corner of the screen
- Tap General > Apps
- Swipe left to the All tab
- Select the desired application
- Tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Clear data > Yes (Read WARNING above)
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work properly, you might be able to fix these problems by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have a similar effect as a factory reset, without losing any of your personal data located on the phones internal memory.
- Swipe the Notification bar down on the home screen
- Access Settings
- Tap General > Storage
- Wait for the phone to finish calculating the data
- Tap Cached data > Yes to clear the cache
- Wait for the process to complete and once done, you should no longer see any data under Cached data (or a very small amount at least)
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can factory reset the LG G5 instead.
Reboot Into Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: In case you have installed a third party application that causes issues on your device and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default. To reboot into Safe Mode
- Wake up the screen, if necessary
- On the home screen, press and hold Power
- From the power options pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- When prompted to Restart in Safe mode, tap OK
- Wait for your phone to reboot, and once done, a Safe mode watermark should be visible in the lower-left corner of the screen
- To remove an application within Safe Mode, first go to the phones Settings menu
- Next, tap General > Apps
- Swipe to the Downloaded tab
- Select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall > OK
- To exit safe mode, press and hold the Power key, and tap Power off and restart in the pop-up menu
