Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: In case one of your apps freezes, crashes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably etc. you can try fixing these issues by clearing the applications cache / data.
WARNING! By clearing the apps data, all your personal data stored within the application, including profiles, saved games, login and credit card information will be deleted. To avoid losing personal app data, clear only the applications cache.
- Swipe the Notification bar down on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Access the General tab and tap Apps
- Swipe to All and tap Clear cache
- Tap Clear data > Yes (NOTE: read the WARNING above)
Reset the Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering applying a factory reset, alternatively you can try solving these problems by clearing the phones cache partition.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab and tap Storage
- Wait for the device to finish calculating the data and tap Cached data > Yes
- Wait for the process to complete, and once done, a much lower value should be shown under Cached data
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the LG X Max.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an Application:
NOTE: If youve installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to remove the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.
- Wake and unlock the screen if necessary
- While on the home screen, press and hold Power
- In the Power management pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Restart in Safe Mode prompt, tap OK
- Once the phone reboots, a Safe Mode label should be displayed in the lower-left area of the home screen
- Next, open Settings and access the General tab if needed
- Tap Apps and go to Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
- After the app has been removed, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone as you normally would (press and hold Power and tap Power off)
