Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: If one of your applications freezes, crashes, or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache and / or data.
WARNING! By clearing an apps data, all personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes save files, settings, login and credit card information, profiles, high scores etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Go to Settings
- Access the General tab if necessary
- Tap Apps
- Swipe to All and select the desired app
- Tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Clear data > Yes (Read WARNING Above)
Wipe Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably etc. and you are thinking of factory resetting your device, you can try wiping the cache partition instead. Wiping the cache can result in similar results as a factory reset, without losing any personal data stored on the internal storage.
- Open Settings
- Go to the General tab
- Tap Storage and wait for the phone to finish calculating data
- Tap Cached data > Yes when ready
- Wait for the cache data to be cleared and review the amount of data left
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can factory reset the LG U.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues on your device and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove it from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.
- Press and hold Power while viewing the home screen
- In the pop-up menu, tap and hold Power off
- When prompted to reboot to Safe Mode, tap OK to confirm and wait for your phone to reboot
- Once the phone reboots, a Safe Mode label should be shown in the lower-left corner of the screen
- To remove an app, first access Settings
- Next, go to General and tap Apps
- Access All and select the desired application
- Tap Uninstall > OK to confirm
- To exit Safe Mode, press and hold Power and tap Power off and restart
