Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: If one of your applications freezes, crashes, or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache and / or data.

WARNING! By clearing an app’s data, all personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes save files, settings, login and credit card information, profiles, high scores etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Access the “General” tab if necessary
  3. Tap “Apps”
  4. Swipe to “All” and select the desired app
  5. Tap “Clear cache”
  6. If necessary, tap “Clear data” > “Yes” (Read WARNING Above)

Wipe Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably etc. and you are thinking of factory resetting your device, you can try wiping the cache partition instead. Wiping the cache can result in similar results as a factory reset, without losing any personal data stored on the internal storage.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Storage” and wait for the phone to finish calculating data
  4. Tap “Cached data” > “Yes” when ready
  5. Wait for the cache data to be cleared and review the amount of data left

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the issues, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can factory reset the LG U.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

  2. In the pop-up menu, tap and hold “Power off”
  3. When prompted to reboot to “Safe Mode”, tap “OK” to confirm and wait for your phone to reboot
  4. Once the phone reboots, a “Safe Mode” label should be shown in the lower-left corner of the screen
  5. To remove an app, first access “Settings”
  6. Next, go to “General” and tap “Apps”
  7. Access “All” and select the desired application
