WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all data stored on the phones internal memory will be deleted. This includes media files, ringtones, applications, downloaded content, contacts etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values.
NOTE: Data stored on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected. For instructions on how to back up data, visit this thread. For instructions on how to restore data, check this thread.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab if necessary
- Tap Backup & reset
- Optionally, tick or clear the boxes associated with Back up my data and Automatic restore
- Next, tap Backup account and if necessary, sign in with your Google account
- Tap Factory data reset
- At the Erase SD Card prompt, choose whether to erase the microSD card too
- Tap Reset Phone when ready and tap Next
- Tap Delete all > OK to confirm
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, or doesnt allow you to reset it via settings, alternatively you can reset the device from the Android System Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing the following:
- First ensure the phone is powered Off
- Next, press and hold Power and Volume down simultaneously
- When the LG logo appears, release and quickly re-hold Power
- When prompted with the Factory data reset screen, release all buttons
- From the reset menu, press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- At the Erase all user data and restore default settings prompt, highlight Yes
- Press Power to confirm
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: After you have factory reset your phone, its recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab if necessary
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Access System info
- Verify if a new update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply any available updates
