WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all your personal data stored on the phones internal memory will be deleted, including media files, apps, contacts, downloaded content etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values.
NOTE: Before proceeding with the reset, you can check this thread for a guide on how to back up data, and this thread for a guide on how to restore data.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Open Settings
- If necessary, switch to Tab view and go to the General tab
- Tap Backup & reset under Phone management
- Select or clear the check boxes associated with Automatic restore and Back up my data
- Tap Backup account and sign in with, or create a backup account
- Tap Factory data reset
- Select whether you want to Erase SD Card as well
- When ready, tap Reset phone
- If your phone is protected by a PIN / password, enter it and tap OK
- Tap Delete all > Reset
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: In case your phone freezes, crashes, or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can reset the device from the Android recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing the following steps:
- Ensure the phone is powered off
- Then, press and hold Power and Volume down simultaneously
- At the LG logo quickly release and re-hold the Power button
- At the Factory data reset screen, release all buttons
- Press Volume down repeatedly to highlight Yes
- Press Power to confirm
- When prompted with Erase all user data and restore default settings, highlight Yes and press Power
