Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, doesnt work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal information stored within the app will be deleted. This includes settings, save files, user profiles, login and credit card information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the cache.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Phone management in the General tab
- Tap Apps
- Select the desired application
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK (check WARNING above)
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your device freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data on the phone.
- Launch Settings
- Go to the General tab
- Scroll to Phone Management
- Tap Storage and access Internal storage
- Wait for the device to finish calculating the data and tap Cached data > Clear
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Enable Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third-party application that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default. To reboot the device in Safe Mode:
- Press and hold Power while on the home screen
- In the power management pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Restart in Safe Mode prompt, tap OK
- Wait for the device to reboot. Once done, a Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, first go to Settings
- Go to the General tab
- Scroll to Phone management and tap Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK to confirm
- After the app has been removed, exit Safe Mode by rebooting the device as you would do normally. Press and hold Power and tap Power off and restart
