Clear An App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If an app freezes, crashes, doesnt work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal information stored within the app will be deleted, including settings, save files, user profiles, login and credit card information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear only the apps cache.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Phone management
- Go to the General tab
- Tap Apps and select the desired application
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- In case clearing the cache didnt solve the issue, tap Clear data > OK (check WARNING above)
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data.
- Launch Settings
- Go to the General tab
- Scroll to Phone management
- Tap Storage > Internal storage
- Wait for the phone to finish calculating the data
- Tap Cached data > Clear
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Enable Safe mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third-party app that causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to remove the app from within Safe Mode, as all third-party apps are disabled in this mode. To access Safe Mode:
- Press and hold Power on the home screen
- In the power management pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Restart in Safe Mode prompt, tap OK
- Wait for the device to reboot. Once done you should see a Safe Mode watermark in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, first go to Settings
- If necessary, switch to the General tab
- Go to Phone management and tap Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
- Once the app has been uninstalled, exit Safe Mode by pressing and holding Power and rebooting your device as you would do normally
