Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your applications doesn’t work as intended, freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try solving these issues by clearing the app’s cache/data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including save files, custom settings, user profiles etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app cache.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “General”
  3. Tap “Apps” and select the desired app
  4. Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache”
  5. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “OK”

Wipe the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If y our phone freezes, crashes, or runs out of storage inexplicably and you’re considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can have similar results to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Phone Management”
  3. Tap “Storage”
  4. Go to “Internal storage”
  5. Once the phone finishes calculating the data, tap “Cached data” > “Clear”

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the phone.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If one of your third-part apps causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “Power”
  2. From the Power Management menu, tap and hold “Power off”
  3. At the “Reboot to Safe Mode” prompt, tap “OK”
  4. Once the phone reboots, a “Safe Mode” watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
  5. To remove an app, open “Settings” and then go to “Apps”
  6. Switch to “All apps” if necessary
  7. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
  8. Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting the phone normally
