    The following is a list of tips and tricks for the Motorola Droid Pro.

    Add/remove widgets
    To add:
    • Press the Home button
    • Select Menu > Add > Widget

    To remove: Select and hold then widget, drag it to the trash can that appears where the application window was.

    Optimize Battery Life
    Scroll left two home screens. On the top you'll see 4 toggles for Wi-fi, Bluetooth, GPS and Airplane mode, which shuts off all cellular radios. Keeping these things off when not in use will help conserve battery.

    You can also go to Settings > Battery Manager to select the profile that suits your needs.

    Import contacts
    From SD card:
    • Insert SD card with vCard file (in root)
    • Go to Contacts > Menu > Import/Export > Import from SD card

    When watching a video select Menu > More > Watch in high quality

    Viewing Notifications
    Simply touch the top status bar and slide down

    Set password to unlock phone
    Go to Settings > Location & security > Security lock > Security lock type > Passcode lock
    Set the password, confirm it and set the timeout.

    From here you can also do a pattern lock.

    Pairing a Bluetooth Headset
    • Press the Home button > Menu
    • Go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Bluetooth > Bluetooth settings
    • Put your headset in pairing mode
    • Select Scan for devices
    • Your headset should come up in the list - if there's a password, enter it (probably 0000)
    • You should now be able to connect to the headset


    Switch applications/recently used
    Simply hold down the Menu key

    Delete a single call or message
    Select the message or call you want to delete and hold - a window of options will pop up and you can select 'delete'.

    Delete a bookmark
    Long press the bookmark and select Delete bookmark

    Save a picture
    Save pictures (MMS or browser) by long pressing them. An option to save will appear.

    Load files from your computer
    • Connect your Dorid X to your computer using provided USB cable
    • Go to Notifications by touching the top status bar and sliding down
    • Select USB Connected
    • Notification > Select Mount
    • You should now see the Droid as a drive in explorer or finder
    • When you're done moving files, go to Notifications and select Turn off USB storage


    Set audio file/mp3 as ringtone
    Open the file you want to set as a ringtone in the media player - click the menu - set as ringtone

    Set ringtones per contact
    Go to Contacts - Select a contact - Select Menu > Edit > Expand Additional info - Under ringtone choose the ringtone you'd like to set for this person.

    Set tones per Notification
    If you go to the individual application that you want to set the notification for you can change it there under the menu.
    For example. Click on Text Messaging > Menu > Messaging Settings - scroll down to Notifications - there is a setting for ringtone or vibrate. (same steps for e-mail and Facebook)

    Save word to dictionary
    While typing - when a word comes up, longpress it. It will be added to the dictionary

    Speed Dial

    Copy/Paste
    • In any text field - long press
    • Edit text will appear
    • Cut all and Copy all will be among the options.
    • If you have something on the clipboard Paste will be an option


    Stop Running Applications
    • Select Settings
    • Applications
    • Running services
    • Select the desired service
    • Stop


    Or just go to the Task Manager application

    Reset the phone to default factory settings

    Is there a way to prevent apps from loading at startup? I only want to fire them up wthen needed. Should I be looking at an appkill app?

    droid or verizon which is worse?

    Help anyone please!!!

    Bought a droid pro phone January 22
    had to go back to the store 3 times to get help loading contacts and e mail
    traveled to europee and called version global first to get international service for a week
    it worked 1 day only then not again
    came back to the usa and they had to reprogram
    next week the speaker phone did not work, they sendta used replacement
    following week went to europe again called verizon global again to set up when returned i got a $700 bill for roaming
    following week sound level did not work even nthough settings correct
    had to pull battery reset phone
    this week can not send e mails
    have to charge almost every 16 hours
    every week it is something have been to three stores now they can not resolve
    spoke to verizon customer service and manager .they said its a poor phone and to buy a blackberry which they would give to me at a discount but will not take this phone back as i exceeded 14 day return policy, even though we have been trying to get it to work for 3 months.
    any suggestions ?

    How to check for system updates:

    1. From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located on the bottom of the screen).
    2. Touch Settings.
    3. Touch About Phone.
    4. Touch System updates.
    5. Verify the system is up to date.
    –If system is not up to date, touch Update.
    How to add a phone number or email that is included in a text to your contacts:

    1. Open the email or text with the included number/email address.
    2. Press and hold on the number/email address.
    3. Touch Add to Contacts.
    How to sync iTunes with your Droid:

    –This requires a 3rd party application which has Windows and Mac support.
    1. Download and install doubleTwist.
    2. Connect your Droid to the computer using a USB cable.
    3. From the home screen, pull down the window shade (Notification bar, located at the top of the screen.
    - You can also press the Menu Key on the front of your Droid, then select Notifications.
    4. Select USB Connected.
    5. Select Mount.
    6. Launch doubleTwist (it will launch automatically in Windows).
    7. Set up your sync settings or just drag and drop media to your Droid.
    8. doubleTwist will automatically convert your videos so that they play on your Droid.
    How to set up 1-touch dialing or messaging to a contact:

    1. Go to the Home Screen.
    2. Press and hold in open space.
    3. Touch Shortcuts.
    4. Touch Direct dial for 1-touch dialing or Direct messaging for 1-touch messaging.
    How to store your voicemail password so you don’t have to enter it everytime:

    1. Touch the Menu Key.
    2. Touch Settings.
    3. Touch Call Settings.
    4. Touch Voicemail Settings.
    5. Change the number to *86,,XXXX#
    – each , represents a pause
    – XXXX is your pin number
    6. Now when you call your voicemail it will automatically enter your password for you.
    How to add custom ringtones and notification sounds to your phone:

    1. Connect your Droid to the computer using a USB cable.
    2. From the home screen, pull down the window shade (Notification bar, located at the top of the screen.
    - You can also press the Menu Key on the front of your Droid, then select Notifications.
    3. Select USB Connected.
    4. Select Mount.
    5. On your computer open the folder of the SD card.
    6. Create this folder structure:
    -Media (Top folder)
    –Audio (Located inside Media folder)
    —Notifications (Located inside Audio folder)
    —MP3s (Located inside Audio folder)
    —Ringtones (Located inside Audio folder)
    —Alarms (Located inside Audio folder)
    How to add custom ringtone to a contact:

    1. Go to the Home Screen.
    2. Touch Contacts.
    3. Select the contact you want to add the ringtone to.
    4. Touch the Menu Key.
    5. Touch Options.
    6. Touch Ringtone and select the desired ringtone.
    How to transfer music/video files between the Verizon Motorola Droid and PC:

    1. Connect the device to the computer with the USB cable
    2. From the home screen, pull down the window shade (Notification bar, located at the top of the screen
    - You can also press the Menu Key on the front of your Droid, then select Notifications
    3. Select USB Connected
    4. Select Mount
    5. From File Explorer/Finder on the computer create a music/video folder in Removable Disk (Removable Disk is the 16GBÂ SD card in your phone )
    - For any accompanying artwork in JPEG format, rename the art file albumart.jpg and compy in the same fold as the music files.
    7. To further organize files, create a subfolder in the newly created music folder and copy desired music files into it.
    8. Touch Turn Off USB Storage
    9. Touch Turn Off
    10. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer
    How to change the browser home/start page on the Motorola Droid:

    1. From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the screen)
    2. Touch Browser
    3. Touch Menu
    4. Touch More
    5. Touch Settings
    6. Touch Set Home Page
    7. Enter the desired home page address then touch OK
    Enabling / disabling Bluetooth – Motorola Droid:

    1. From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located on the bottom of the screen).
    2. Touch Settings.
    3. Touch Wireless & networks.
    4. Touch Bluetooth settings.
    5. Touch Bluetooth.
    -Bluetooth is enabled if a green check mark is present.
    Setting ringtones – Motorola Droid:

    1. From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located on the bottom of the screen).
    2. Touch Settings.
    3. Touch Sound & display.
    4. Touch Phone ringtone.
    5. Touch the desired ringtone then touch OK.
    How to lock a text message:

    1. From the home screen, touch messaging.
    2. Open the thread (contacts name) that you want to lock.
    3. Press and hold the message.
    4. Select Lock message (a lock will appear next to the message if its locked).
    5. To unlock a message press and hold on the locked message (lock will disappear).
    How to bring up the quick launch of the 6 most used applications:

    Press and hold the Home button.
    How to stop running applications:

    1. From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the screen).
    2. Touch Settings.
    3. Touch Applications.
    4. Touch Running services.
    5. Touch the desired service.
    6. Touch Stop.
    How to Cut/Copy and Paste:

    1. To cut or copy text, touch and hold the deisred text field.
    –Not all text fields support cut/copy.
    2. Touch the desired option: Cut all Cuts all text from the field, Copy all Copies all text from the field.
    3. Touch and hold the desired target text field.
    4. Touch Paste.
    How to adjust the backlight:

    1. From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the screen).
    2. Touch Settings.
    3. Touch Sound & Display.
    4. Touch Brightness.
    5. Adjust brightness as desired then touch OK.
    –If automatic brightness is desired, ensure Automatic brightness is checked.
    How to adjust the date and time settings:

    1. From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the screen).
    2. Touch Settings.
    3. Touch Date & time.
    4. To use network provided date & time values touch Automatic.
    –Automatic date & time are enabled if a green check mark is present.
    5. Touch Set date.
    6. Adjust date as desired then touch Set.
    7. Touch Select time zone.
    8. Touch the desired time zone.
    9. Touch Set time.
    10. Adjust time as desired then touch Set
