    Re: micro sd adapter

I concur with the need of ensuring that there is an adapter with the card. I have read on other forums that LG phones are quite picky over the SD card. I don't know the specific technology involved but it seems that "not all brands are alike". One post "strongly" suggested using Sandisk brand. (Aparently that is the brand being pushed in the Vzw stores) In fact, I have a Sandisk 1g Micro SD that read fine (via the adapter) in my old usb 2 multi-card (but no micro sd) generic brand reader after I formatted it in the phone first. Perhaps, this was luck but I have fewer problems transferring stuff this was than by plugging in the phone (lets see, what com port is this?) where my family has three different models and they all want songs, ringtones, pictures, etc.

Ronju99, I certainly don;t doubt your experiences and really wonder why that was happening. I would think that compatability issues would be disclosed on manufacturer sites. Even if it said, "use this x brand with x brand reader model 111." All these cards (SD,CF,SM) are certainly big business and sure to get bigger. I would think these companies would do about anything to make them user friendly and interchangable with readers, lest people say "Avoid this brand like the plague..."

    Re: micro sd adapter

    David,
Sandisk doesn't show the SD card adapter kits being compatible with my LG VX8300. That may be the problem. However the Alura-tek at Best Buys works fine and claims it works for all micro SD chips. So if your phone is not supported by Sandisk Kits, you will want another manufacturers reader.

    Re: micro sd adapter

That might be because their cards work with so many products. If you were expecting Sandisk to say they were compatible with the LG phones, I suggest you were starting on the wrong end of the search. If you look at the Vzw site here (enter your zip & select music accessories), you will see that about all the memory devices they sell is Sandisk. Anyway, my Micro Sandisk, in the SD adapter, works fine in my USB 2.0 generic reader's SD slot. Is it possible that you didn't format it in the phone first?

    Re: micro sd adapter

We formated two new cards with my phone. As I said before, when we inserted the card by itself into the labtops micro drive it read it fine and showed the Pix folders. We then put the card into the sandisk adapter and inserted it into two different readers, one being the sandisk mobile mate and plugged them into all three USB ports on the computer and it would not read it. It would only say it needed to be formated but after trying to format windows XP stated that it could not format it.

No. Just tested both adapters I have and they both worked in the Alura-tek reader but wouldn't work in my PQI reader. My next step is to go back to Verizon and try there Sandisk Mobile Mate again. I did notice that inserting the adapter must be done carefully. They are sensitive.

Some card readers appear to have a limit on the memory size of cards they will recognize. The 7-in-1 card reader on my HP Pavillion laptop will not read 2MB cards.

Why would anyone try to read a 2MB card.
The smallest that comes with most phones is 64MB.
If you meant 2GB, well.. the 12-in-1 will read everything including the SDHC.
