OK I'm a rookie at ring tones and need some help. I have a Razr v3m and tons of mp3 files(ripped from my CD's). I'd like to make a few ring tones, but am lost as to how. I have the USB cable to connect the phone to my PC, but the PC doesn't recongize the phone automatically when plugged in. I have several players installed (iTunes, Windows Media Player, Real, etc.). I know I can buy ringtones from iTunes, but I've got the files, so I am hoping to learn a new skill and save some money. I'm using XP Pro. Can someone out there help me at least get started? Thanks!

If you'd actually do a search of our forum's I'm sure you'd find the answer for this as it's been brought up many times.
In short, you'll need a data cable, Moto Phone Tools (on some version's BitPim will work), a program like Audacity to cut your mp3's down to ringtone size and thats about it.

Re: How do I make ringtones for Razr v3m from mp3s ?
Hey, I've been looking for an answer for this for a few days and I've seen conflicting responses. Most people say get Motorola Phone Tools and a cable.
I realized I have both--they came with the phone. I installed MPT and got my phone connected, ran MPT, and there's nothing to do with Multimedia stuff like I've heard there's supposed to be.
The options on the right bar are "Synchronization; Phonebook;Calendar; Text message; Internet Connection" and that is IT. Now, I've seen screenshots for MPT with icons for changing wallpaper and sounds and stuff, so I know people aren't just pulling my leg, but I don't get it. Do I not have the right MPT or the right cable or something? What's going on here?
Oh, also, I downloaded BitPim and it doesn't support Motorola Razr V3m, which is what I have.
Please help if you can. I'll keep on looking (though maybe I shouldn't, cuz I've ALSO read about the hopelessness of getting custom ringtones onto this type of phone-- apparently Verizon is pretty good at eliminating alternative sources for customization), but I just wanted say that it seems like I've tried just about everything (okay, there were a few things I saw that you could do, but those looked WAY too complicated. I'm simply not that technology-savvy) to no avail.
If you can help, I'd REALLY appreciate it.

Ok....let me load up my wife's old MPT stuff and see if I can remember how to do this. That is one of many reason's I don't like the razor....or for that matter just about any moto phone (personal opinion only).
Have you tried to email a ringtone to the phone. It's been so long since my wife had a razr that I can't remember if you can still do that or not?

Re: How do I make ringtones for Razr v3m from mp3s ?
Umm, no, I haven't tried ^^;;
Assuming it can be done (you said you don't remember), how do I do it?
As for your opinion of motorola phones, I'm beginning to share the same sentiment ^^ Unfortunately though, I didn't have a choice in the phone. My brother needed a new phone and he chose this model I guess because he found a good deal on it, so my parents and I switched to it too. I never wanted to, but whatever, I don't care THAT much. I'm just thinking that while I have it I should make it as likeable as possible (hence the wanting to make my own ringtones)
Anyway, thanks so much for your help.
