Title says it all!
I got a new V3 via insurance co and want to transfer my old contacts without going into sprint store. Can't I save them to the memory card and put it in new phone? How do I do this? I am very tech challenged

You need to copy your addressbook to phonebook. In other way to say it, copying every contacts in phone to memory card and then put memory card in your new phone and do the same. If it was me I will use the sim card to transfer coz it have some space in it.

Wait a minute, if you're using a Sprint cellphone, doesn't that make it a CDMA Technology? If what I'm saying is true, then you don't use a sim card. If you use a memory card, then you can use it as a mass storage device on your computer, or bach up the info using a P2K program and load it to the new cellphone. Now, if you are writing about a V3m, these phone don't use memory card. Let us know what kind of phone you have and the technology.

Very good, then because of the memory card, he can use it as a mass storage device, nice little phone, by the way. Ok, when the phone is plug in, the computer is going to recognize it as a pen drive, he can drag and drop just about anything. Is the old phone still working? Because he said that he got a new phone via insurance, so I'm assuming that is not working. Another way is P2K, he can edit the contact information, but to me is the samething as writing it straight to the phone. Bethm7, let us know which you decide to use. Good luck.

CDMA phones do not use 'sims cards' therefore the only way to transfer your contacts is to go to a sprint store. Memory cards are not the same as sim cards.

Yes, it's exactly what I wrote before, but if he doesn't want to go to the Sprint store he doesn't have to. There are programs he can use to copy the contacts to the other phone using the available memory card, if you have one, give it a try, and you'll see that it's possible. I know, I've done it.

OOhhh yeahh!!! Of course that would be my #1 choice also, I've change phone before and I let them do all the work, after all, it's a lot of money we are paying them for services most of the time we don't even get. Usually what I do at home it's for testing, and I like to mess around with cellphones and other tech. And of course if I get the chance to help somebody else, as long as I have the time, I'll be more than glad to. Nice chatting with you Tony_E.
