    Hey! I need some help...

Ok, I got a T720 from a friend of mine which is a Cingular phone. I have T-Mobile service. When I put my sim chip in the T720, and wait a few mins, it asks for my "Subsidy Code". I'm sure a LOT of you heard of this, and I will prolly get the same answer that I have been seeing on the net doing searches which is: "the only way to get a code, is to buy one." There HAS to be SOMEONE out there with the 8 (?) digit code. Cingular wouldn't give it to me, because I am not there customer; T-Mobile wouldn't, because THEY can only get it through Cigular; and Motorola wouldn't because of the compition between the two. PLEASE GET THIS WORKING FOR ME!! I hate my Nokia 3390 - too outdated...
    Lemme know!
    Thanks A lot!!

I think you're screwed. Try to find someone who uses Cingular and have them contact Cingular and ask them for the unlock code. It takes about 10 days. You could go to a dealer and sign up with him IF he unlocks the phone. The dealers commission is about $300 so it's worth it for him to do. They will try to charge you $15-30, Don't pay it. Keep going to dealers until you find one who will do for you.

See problem is that each code that is given out by Cingular is also assigned to your EMEI number on your cell phone, so lets say i have my 8 digit code that i got from Cingular to unlock my Razr, it will not work to unlock another Razr because my 8 digit code was assigned to my particular EMEI.

NO,NO,NO. never send in your phone to be unlocked, that was in the old days, like i've said before if you don't want to deal with carriers to unlock your phone just go to a private phone retailer and they will unlock it for you for about $20, you can also remotely unlock your phone through the web if have a USB cable or they will e-mail you a password.

to be honest with you! no service provider will give the subcidy code for that phone. why unlocking it to your private phone retailer if they sending your phone to somebody else. this is what happening to a phone shop here in my place, they don't unlock it by them self they send the phone too, who knows. unlocking it by your self is not worth it, you have to know what your doing and it can damage your terminal. think about how much is data cable. im not connected to this cellular pager but if i have a phone which hard to unlock i'll always send it to them. me my self can unlock only nokia. visit wwwkisland.com and my user name there is 10-4. i always giving a free nokia code but as i said moto phones can be unlock only thru data cable solution. i think the old days is alot better and it's more safe than the new days unlocking.

Sorry but you're not making much sense, i'm not quite understanding what you're trying to say but unlocking a phone will not damage it, i recently unlocked my Razr w/o the need of a USB cable, i just used the code that i got from Cingular, you only need a usb cable if you're going to remotely unlock your phone through a web-service.

And again, i would never send my phone anywhere, i don't want my phone getting scratched up or even lost in the process, and there's no need to if you just want to unlcok it.

i still like the old days that you said i don't think i will lose if you send it certified mail. i don't think that i will get scratched if you wrap in a bubble wrap and put inside the bubble envelope. i just don't like a headache like going to cingular, usb cable, and web-service for $20.

I'm not talking about the way the phone is packaged, i'm referring to the way the phone is handle when it's being worked on....

As far as you not liking going through any carrier which is totally free by the way after 90 days of having your contract with Cingular and T-Mobile, not liking to use a usb cable or not using a web site remote service is just a matter of preference.

If you know about unlocking then i shouldn't have to explain to you that with carriers like Cingular and T-Mobile you can have them give you the unlock code after you'd had your account for 90 days and without the need to use any usb cables including the Razr, that's how i got mine unlocked.
Here's the instructions i got from Cingular, i deleted the code because that's EMEI dependent:

Here is the unlock code you requested:

The following is the process for entering the unlock code for your phone.

IMPORTANT: You have five tries to enter this code into your phone. If you go beyond the five tries unsuccessfully your phone will not be able to be unlocked. If you get "Code Error" displayed on your handset twice we suggest you call us before going any further.

    1. Insert the non-Cingular SIM card.

    2. Turn on your handset.

You will then be prompted to enter the eight digit unlock code.
    Your unlock code is: xxxxxxxx
The handset is then successfully unlocked.

All other Motorola handset models use these instructions:

    1. Insert the non-Cingular SIM card.

    2. Turn on your handset.

    3. Press and hold the * key until a box appears.

    4. Enter *#32#

    5. Press OK

    6. Enter the unlock code: xxxxxxxx

    7. The handset is then successfully unlocked.

    Hello,
I just finished having two of my phones unlocked. One was Moto T721 and the other is a NEC. We switched from AT&T to Cingular and we could not use the phones. For the Moto, I had to call Cingular and they called Moto to get the subsidy code. It took like 3 seconds. I just popped in the sim and the battery, turned the phone on and punched in a six digit code. The NEC had to be mailed in to NEC only because they lost my AT&T registrations. They will unlock it for me and ship it back. Both are free (other than the shipping). Once you get the code, you can use any service with the phone. I was so mad because my NEC was a very expensive phone!! Now I can use it again. Don't take their crap and demand that T Mobile call MOTO and get the code. Try talking directly to tech support.
    Good luck,
    Kristie
