Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: If one of your third party apps doesnt work as intended, you might be able to fix it by clearing its cache or data. WARNING! Clearing an apps data will delete all the personal information stored within the app, such as credit card and login information, saved games, profiles, high scores etc. As such you should try clearing the apps cache first.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Access Settings
- Tap Apps
- Go to the Downloaded or All screen
- Select the desired application
- Tap Clear cache > OK
- If necessary, tap Clear data > OK
Wipe the Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your phone doesnt work properly and youre considering factory resetting it, you should first try clearing its cache partition. Doing so can yield similar beneficial results as a factory reset, without losing your personal data stored on the internal memory. To wipe the cache:
- Turn off the phone
- Press and hold Volume Down and Power until the phone turns on
- In the menu, press Volume down to highlight Recovery mode
- Press Power Up to select the highlighted option
- From the screen displaying an Android robot lying on its back, press and hold Power and press & release Volume Up
- From the menu, use Volume Down to navigate to and highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the option
- At the Reboot system now prompt, press Power and wait for your phone to restart
NOTE: If wiping the cache partition didnt help, you can visit this thread to learn how you can factory reset the device instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: In case you have installed a third party application that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to easily uninstall the app by first rebooting your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode all third party apps are disabled.
- With the screen turned on, press and hold Power
- In the dialog box, tap and hold Power off
- Tap OK to confirm and reboot your phone in safe mode
- To remove an app, first go to Settings
- Tap Apps
- Swipe to Downloaded and select the desired application
- Tap Uninstall > OK
