Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery Saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
  3. For more options open “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By turning OFF the phone’s connectivity options when unused, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth and GPS, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” (GPS)” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Access “Location” and tap “mode” > “Battery saving”
  5. To turn off Wi-Fi Hotspot, return to “Settings”
  6. Then tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
  7. Next, tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the feature OFF

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type” and enable “2G”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes, and thus they can potentially affect battery life even when they are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Ensure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” to disable the app
  5. Tap “Uninstall” to remove the app from the phone

NOTE: Another method for removing an app is to open the apps drawer and then drag & drop the app’s shortcut over the “Uninstall” section at the top.

Change Sync Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: by changing your apps/accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal”
  4. Tap “Accounts” and select an existing account
  5. Disable the desired sync options

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if an update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply available updates. NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
