Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache and/or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including user profiles, custom settings, login information, save files etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Access Apps
- Select All apps and tap the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- If clearing the app cache didnt help, you can tap Clear data > OK (check the warning above)
Wipe the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.
- Turn the phone off if necessary
- Press and hold Volume down and Power at the same time
- Release the keys at the Boot Mode Selection menu
- Press Volume down repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight Recovery
- Press Volume Up to select the highlighted option
- At the No Command screen press both Power and Volume Up repeatedly to gain access to Recovery
- Once in Android Recovery, press Volume down and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Then highlight Reboot system now and press Power to confirm
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps doesnt work as intended and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default. To reboot to Safe Mode:
- Press and hold Power on the home screen
- Tap and hold Power off in the power management pop-up
- At the Reboot to Safe Mode prompt, tap OK
- After the phone finishes rebooting, a Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app open Settings
- Next go to Apps and switch to All apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall > OK
- To exit Safe Mode, reboot your phone as you would do normally
