A doctor told me that most all phones in u.k. come unlocked so they can be used on any system just by putting your system's card in.

If I buy an unlocked phone, looking at blackberry 8330's or a cheaper smart phone, will it work or have the slot to put the boost card in? I can't afford their descent phone and the samsung slider and others did not get very good reviews on their web services.
