I just received my first Cell phone, Nokia 6102.
I've hooked up the charger, but the phone does not show anything.
    Yes, I've installed the Battery.
Should there be something show that the phone is charging?
Could i have a dead phone?

You may want to check the battery again, and make sure that the contacts on the battery are in contact with the contacts in the phone. Also make sure that the battery does not have a paper or plastic shipping cover over the contacts.

Some thin batteries can be out in backwards and still fit so that the cover can be put on the phone.

If the battery is in the phone properly, and the phone is working as it should, you should at least see the battery charging bars on the right side of the phone's screen.

It's possible that either the phone or the battery could be DOA, only way to really find out is to go to a store that sells your phone (hopefully one that your cellular provider runs), that way they can change out the battery and or phone if they are dead.

Dumb me, the phone does power up.
I found out the "End" key is also the power key.

Heheh that gets a lot on people, depending on the phone! Don't feel bad, at least you know what to look for if the power on button does work after having the battery out of the phone.

Don't feel bad. I have 150+ phones on my contract and the models are starting to vary some. I was on the phone today with a Verizon tech with a working phone and could not get the phone to power cycle...then I looked up and saw this model had the power button on top of the phone, not the red Hang Up button. Duh! It made the techs day though, she laughed for a good long, and so did I.
