Hi all. After several years of NO PROBLEMS with a cheapo Kyocera and Verizon, I recently switched to T-Mobile and a new Nokia 6133 phone. I noticed the very first week that the damn thing was making calls by itself to folks in my phone book, but whom I had not called. Most calls were less than a minute in length, until one day there was one to friend in another state that I haven't spoken with in two years. This one was 8 minutes. I went back to the T-Mobile store and since it was within 14 days, they just switched it out and gave me a new phone. That was about two weeks ago, and now, guess, what...after about two trouble free weeks, the new phone is doing the same thing.

What should/can I do? Thanks, Jim

PS: Cross-posting this to the Providers forums, in case that's the issue.

Do you lock the keypad whenever you're not using your phone?

I had the same problem with my old Nokia and it turned out to be the speed dial getting pushed while in my pocket....

Re: Help! Phone making calls on its own!

Thanks, first decent response I've gotten on this (after various "stupid newbie" type insults on other forums). Per the above reply, no the phone hasn't been in my pocket when this happens...it occurs when the phone is sitting undisturbed on the desk, nightstand, etc. That is, when I am nowhere near it and no one else is.

Now...this virus...would that occur when I have not ever tried to go online with it? And a new problem came up yesterday (with the replacement of the first phone) where all of a sudden, there is no audio at all (yes, the volume is all the way up to 10). It works fine when I use my Bluetooth, but not at all when I turn off the BT and try to use it normally. It makes all its other cutesy noises, but no audio in my ear and I don't believe my caller hears me.

Bottom line is, after 30 min. with tech support on the phone, I am now getting a THIRD one, only this time having to pay the $10 for shipping after getting the second one within 14 days by just going to the local store.

Ideas? Virus? If so, how do I avoid it in the future? Thanks!

If you suspect that there is a virus, I suggest that you bring your phone to your nearest service centre and ask them to upgrade the phone software.

Then use the phone (remove memory card if there is) with the new software for a week. See if the same thing happens again.

If nothing happens, good for you.

If it's the same, replace your sim card.

And don't install other unknown 3rd party applications to be safe.

    Life with your Mobile Phone

6133 is not a smart phone, so it is impossible to infected with a virus i think, as for your problem it is really hard to find the reason

    Hi

Have any of you guys ever heard of www[dot]FreebieSMS[dot]co[dot]uk? It seems to send free SMS messages in the UK, but does anyone have any experience with them?
