Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider from the notification area towards the left side of the screen
  3. For more options go to “Settings”
  4. Access “Display”
  5. Optionally, you can turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  6. To select a different timeout duration, access “Sleep”

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” > “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can turn off the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable these features
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Go to “Location” then tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
  5. For hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Disable “Tethering & mobile hotspot”

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have the option of quickly recharging it, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Access “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Third-party apps can perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can remove or disable unused third-party apps to improve battery life.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Access “Apps”
  3. Make sure you view “All apps” or “Downloaded”
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Disable” or “Force Stop’
  5. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

Change Account Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: You can reduce the amount of data synced by your accounts and apps to attempt improving battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Accounts”
  3. Select the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “About phone” > “System updates”
  3. Check if new updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to complete the update (this will likely require you to reboot your phone)
