Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can conserve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Tap the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Location quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch Settings
- Tap Location for GPS options
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and set the feature Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Turn on 2G
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Sleep and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and select All apps from the drop-down menu
- Select the desired app
- To disable the app, tap Force stop
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select the desired account
- Change the available sync settings as desired
Keep the Software Up To Date:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, and as such its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available for download
- If available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
