Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can conserve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Tap “Location” for GPS options
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the feature Off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Turn on “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps” and select “All apps” from the drop-down menu
  4. Select the desired app
  5. To disable the app, tap “Force stop”
  6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts” and select the desired account
  4. Change the available sync settings as desired

Keep the Software Up To Date:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if new updates are available for download
  5. If available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
