I just purchased a blackberry curve 8310 with AT&T and I was wondering which bundles of media if any do I need to have immediately. Ive been with AT&T for 13 years and have unlimited messaging and internet. What do I need for this phone

Re: New to Blackberry
All you really need on a BlackBerry is the unlimited internet access. This will give you just about everything you need. If you want to send text messages instead of E-mail then you may want to get a text messaging plan as well, but that is completely up to you.
There are also several other options, such as if you would like to use the BlackBerry as a modem for your laptop then you can get a tethering package that will allow you to do this. And also there is a higher internet package if you decide to get on BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) for your E-mail. Most times BIS is enough if you are just using POP3 email but if you want your E-mail, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Memos all to sync without using the wire then you may want to get on a hosted BES solution and get the BES data package from your provider.Last edited by wirelessiq; 06-06-2008 at 02:26 PM.

Re: New to Blackberry
I have the BES on my curve as it's a company phone. It works great except I would like to access my hotmail in the browser. I got the java turned on but it doesn't load but at the top, it says "sign in". Anybody know how to configure it to get access?

Re: New to Blackberry
My BlackBerry Browser does the same thing and I am also on BES.
I would download Opera Mini. I was able to pull it up and log in just fine using their browser.

Re: New to Blackberry
Does anyone use Verizon? Apparently it costs 15.00 a month to tether your blackberry to your computer and use it as a modem. Is it worth it?

Re: New to Blackberry
Aside the bundles through your provider, applications are just as important for everyday use...
I'm a huge fan of what Google has to offer. ESPECIALLY with web browsing. It is so much easier and the best part is that Google makes a bunch applications in one-stop-shopping. Just download their Google Mobile Updater and the Google Sync and you are good to go. YOu can pick and choose what services you would like from them: News, Calendar Sync, GoogleTalk, Gmail, etc, etc!!!
