    carriers in india for whatever reason don't see the need to buy blackberry for their customers. could be financial issues, demand issues, communication with RIM. whatever the story it's too bad because india could definately use some more options!

    The reason its not popular in India is because India made blackberry commit to allowing India access to its server information, this allows their government to monitor and limit the functionality of web and email. India threatened to ban all use, sale, service, distribution, and repair of blackberry smartphones. To prevent the loss of several countries use of the BlackBerry, research in motion made an agreement in which India controls the host server for BB's in the region. So essentially they are not popular any more because they are not true BB's anymore
