NOTE: This guide is a follow-up to "Samsung Galaxy Express 2: Back up Data". If you wish to learn how to back up your data first, please visit the link provided.
Restoring Applications:
- On your device, log onto your Google account
- While on the home screen, press "Menu"
- Tap "Settings" and go to the "Accounts" tab
- Tap "Google" and select "Sync all"
- Press the "Back" button and tap "Backup and Reset"
- Check / Uncheck "Backup my data" and "Automatic restore"
Restoring Contacts from the SD Card:
- Open the "Contacts" app
- Press "Menu" and select "Import / Export"
- Tap "import from SD card"
- Browse for the desired vCard file and import the contacts
Restoring Contacts from a Samsung or Google Account:
- Press "Menu" while on the home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Go to the "Accounts" tab and select either "Google" or "Samsung"
- Tap your "email address" located at the top of the menu
- Mark the "Sync contacts" check box and tap "Sync now"
Restoring Media Files from Your Device (SD card):
- From the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Open "My Files" and tap "All files" > "SD card"
- Navigate to where your media files are stored
- Tap and hold the file that you wish to restore, and select "Move"
- The phone will display all available memory locations. Select one, or go to a different location or create a new folder
- Tap "Move here" once in the desired location
Restoring Media Files from Your Windows Computer:
- Using the USB cable, establish a connection between your smartphone and PC
- Drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device", then mark the "Media device" check box
- When the auto-run window appears on your computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer". Otherwise, navigate manually to your phone's storage
- Open a new Windows Explorer window and locate the backed up files stored on your computer
- Copy the files and paste them onto your phone's storage
- When the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your phone from your PC (click the USB icon in the system tray)
Restoring Media Files from Your Mac Computer:
NOTE: Kies must be installed for this method to work
- Connect your Express 2 to your Mac via USB
- On your smartphone, drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device". Also, check the "Media device" option
- On the Mac, open Kies
- Click the "Back up / Restore" tab in Kies
- Go to the "Restore" tab
- Click the check boxes associated with the "Music", "Photo" or any other categories of files that you wish to restore
- Click "Restore" and follow any additional prompts as they appear
- Once done, safely disconnect your smartphone from your Mac
