Master Reset
WARNING! Master resetting your smartphone will result in loss of personal data stored on the handset's internal storage, including downloaded content, ringtones, apps, contacts and apps. NOTE: data stored on the SIM and SD cards are not going to be deleted.
Master Resetting your Smartphone via the Settings Menu:
- If necessary, back up your data. (Click this link if you need to learn how to perform a backup)
- While on the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Select "Settings"
- Go to the "General" tab
- Tap "Back up and reset"
- Tap "Factory data reset" and then tap "Reset device"
- If prompted, enter your PIN or password and then tap "Continue"
- Tap "Delete all"
Master Resetting Using Hardware Keys:
In case your smartphone is freezing up during the booting process and you can't reset it through the settings menu, then you can do so using the hardware keys.
- Back up the data if necessary. (Click this link to learn how)
- Turn off your smartphone
- Press and hold the "Volume Up", "Home" and "Power" buttons at the same time
- Once the "Galaxy Note 3" message appears on the screen, release the "Power" key but continue to keep the other two buttons pressed
- Once the "Android System Recovery" screen pops-up, release the "Volume up" and "Home" buttons
- Press the "Volume down" button to highlight the "wipe data / factory reset" option
- Press the "Power" button to confirm your selection
- Navigate to "delete all user data" by using the "Volume down" button
- Press the "Power" button to select and start the master reset
- Once the resetting process is complete, highlight "Reboot system now" and press the "Power" button to restart your device
