Switching to Easy Mode:

Easy Mode is a new feature in the latest version of TouchWiz, allowing the user to switch to a simple layout with bigger icons and a simplified home screen. The home screen can be customized with apps and frequently used settings, as well as shortcuts for the favorite contacts. To enable this feature:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Tap "Easy mode" > "Easy mode"
  4. Select the applications to apply a simpler layout
  5. Tap "Done"
  6. To add app shortcuts to the home screen, swipe left and tap "+", then select an app
  7. To add a contact shortcut to the home screen, scroll right and tap the "Contacts" icon
  8. To remove shortcuts from the home screen, tap "Menu" > "Edit". Then select an app or contacts with "-"

Home Screen Management

Adding Items to the Home Screen:

  • To add an app shortcut to the home screen, tap the apps button and drag > drop an app icon on top of the home screen
  • To add widgets, tap and hold an empty area on the home screen > select "Widgets" > tap and hold a widget and drag > drop it on top of a home screen
  • To move an item from the home screen, tap and hold it, then drag and drop it to a new location
  • To remove an item, tap and hold it, then drag it on top of the "Remove" button

Creating Folders:

  1. While viewing the home screen, tap and hold an app shortcut
  2. Drag the app and drop it on top of the "Create folder" field that appears at the top of the screen
  3. Type in the folder's name
  4. To add shortcuts in the folder, tap "+", select the app and tap "Done"

Managing Home Screen Panels:

  • To add, move or remove a home screen panel, tap an empty area on a home screen
  • To add a panel, scroll left and tap the "+" panel
  • To move a panel, tap and hold it in preview mode, and drag it to the desired location
  • To remove a panel, tap and hold it while in preview mode, and drag > drop it on top of the "Remove" area

Changing the Wallpaper:

  1. Tap the "Apps" icon located on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Wallpaper"
  3. Select the desired screen to change the wallpaper to
  4. Scroll through your images and select the desired one. To set a wallpaper from the gallery or other location, tap "More images"
  5. When ready, tap "Set wallpaper" or "Done"

Managing the Apps Screen

Changing the View Mode:

  1. From the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
  2. Tap the "Menu" icon and select "View as"
  3. Choose the desired sorting method

Hiding Applications in the Apps Drawer:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. From there, tap "Menu" > "Hide apps"
  3. Select the applications that you wish to hide and tap "Done"
  4. To show hidden applications, tap "Menu" > "Show hidden apps". Then, select the apps and tap "Done"

Moving Items in the Apps Screen:

  1. Open the apps drawer and tap "menu"
  2. Tap "Edit"
  3. Tap and hold the shortcut that you wish to move, and drag > drop it to the desired location
  4. To move the item to a different panel, drag it to the edge of the screen
  5. To create a new panel and move the app there, drag the shortcut on top of the "Create page" area that pops-up at the top of the display

Creating Folders in the App Screen:

  1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Tap "Menu" > "Create folder". (NOTE: alternatively, you can also tap "Menu" > "Edit" > tap and hold an app and drag it on top of the "Create folder" field)
  3. Type in the desired name for the folder
  4. Tap the "+" button to add more apps to the folder
  5. When ready, tap "Done"
