Restoring Applications:
- Sign in with your Google or Samsung account
- Open the phone's "Settings" menu
- Under "User and Backup", tap "Accounts"
- Select either "Google" or "Samsung", depending on the type of account you have used for backing up the apps
- Tap your "email address" located at the top of the screen
- Tap "Sync all"
- Press the "Back" key until you return to the "User and Backup" section
- Tap "Backup and reset"
- Under "Backup and Restore", mark / clear the check boxes next to "Automatic restore" and "Back up my data"
Contact Restore
Restoring Contacts from a Samsung or Google Account:
- If necessary, log in with your Google or Samsung account
- While on the home screen, tap "Apps" and open "Settings"
- Scroll to "User and Backup" and tap "Accounts"
- Tap "Google" or "Samsung", depending on what account you have used for the backup
- Tap the "email address" at the upper side of the screen
- Mark the "Sync contacts" check box
- Tap "Sync now"
Restoring Contacts from the SD Card:
- Launch the "Contacts" application
- Access the "Contacts" tab
- Press "Menu" and tap "Settings" > "Contacts"
- Tap "Import / Export"
- Select "Import from SD card"
- Select the desired account, and load the VCF file containing your contacts
Restoring Media
Restoring Media Files from your Device's Storage:
- Open the apps drawer
- Tap "My Files" > "All files"
- Tap "SD card"
- Tap the "Menu" icon located at the upper-right area and tap "Select"
- Mark the check boxes associated with the files / folders that you wish to restore
- Tap the "Menu" icon and select "Move"
- Tap "Device storage"
- Navigate to where you wish to restore the files and tap "Move here"
- If you wish to move the files to another location, tap "Create folder" > "Move here"
Restoring Media Files from a Windows Computer:
- Use the USB cable to connect your Galaxy S5 Active to your PC
- From the smartphone, swipe the "Status" bar down
- Tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
- On the computer, click "Open device to view files"
- Launch a second Windows Explorer window and locate the backed up media files stored on your computer
- Copy the media files and paste them on the "Card" or "Phone" storage
- Once the transfer is done, safely disconnect your smartphone
Restoring Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Establish a USB connection between your smartphone and Mac computer
- On the SGS5 Active, drag the "Status" bar down
- Tap "Connected as a media device" and mark the "Media device" check box
- On the Mac, launch Kies
- In Kies, click the "Back up / restore" tab
- Click the "Restore" tab
- Mark the check boxes associated with "Music", "Photo" and other types of files that you wish to restore. NOTE: you can mark the "Select all items" check box if you wish to restore all the files
- Click "Restore" and follow any additional on-screen prompts if necessary
- Once finished, safely disconnect the phone from the Mac
