Using Google Sync to Transfer Contacts:

One of the most common methods of contact transfer is through syncing with a Google account. Basically, you can sync the contacts stored on the SGSIII with your Google contact, and then re-sync the contacts from the account with the SGS5 Sport.

  1. On the Galaxy SIII, sign in with your Google account
  2. From the home screen, press the "Menu" key
  3. Tap "Settings"
  4. Access "My accounts" > "Google"
  5. Tap your "email address" or "user name"
  6. Clear and mark the "Sync Contacts" check box, or tap "Sync now"
  7. On the Galaxy S5 Sport, log in with the same Google account
  8. Launch the apps drawer and access "Settings"
  9. Tap "Accounts" under "User and Backup"
  10. Press "Menu" and then tap "Sync all"

Transferring Contacts via the "Contacts" App:

Using the "Contacts" application, you can export the contacts stored on the SGSIII in the form of a vCard file, which can then be transferred to the Galaxy S5 Sport via email or using a computer. Then, the contacts can be imported on the SGS5 Sport via the "Contacts" app

  1. Launch the "Contacts" application on the Samsung Galaxy SIII
  2. Go to the "Contacts" tab and press "Menu"
  3. Tap "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
  4. Press "Menu" and tap "Import / Export"
  5. Tap "Export to SD card". Before tapping "OK", make sure you record the backup file's name
  6. Launch the email client and compose a new email
  7. Attach the VCF file to the email and send it to your own Gmail address
  8. On the Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport, open the email and download the attached vCard file
  9. Open the "Contacts" application
  10. Press "Menu" > "import / Export"
  11. Tap "Import from SD card" > "import from storage"
  12. Choose an account if necessary, and load the vCard file

NOTE: after you have created the vCard file on the Galaxy SIII, the file can be transferred to the SGS5 Sport by connecting both smartphones to a computer and manually copy > pasting it from the SIII's storage, to the SGS5 Sport's "sdcard" directory. Then, import the contacts using the "Contacts" app

Using "Send Anywhere" to Transfer Contacts:

Last but not least, you can use "Send Anywhere" - a third party application - for transferring contacts from the SIII to the S5 Sport without needing a computer. This app can be used for transferring various types of files through a P2P connection.

  1. Launch the Play Store and install "Send Anywhere" on both smartphones
  2. Open the app on both Samsung devices
  3. On the Galaxy SIII, tap "Send" > "Contacts"
  4. Choose the contacts that you wish to transfer and tap "Send"
  5. Lastly, choose the desired method of transfer. By tapping "Receive" on the Galaxy S5 Sport, you can commence the transfer by entering the transfer code from the Galaxy SIII. Alternatively, you can tap "Generate QR Code" on the Galaxy SIII, and scan the code with the S5 Sport's camera to begin the transfer process
