Restoring Applications:
- If necessary, sign in to the Google or Samsung account used for the initial backup
- Tap "Settings" while on the home screen
- Scroll to "User and Backup" and tap "Accounts"
- Tap "Google" or "Samsung", depending on the type of account used for the backup
- Tap your "email address" located at the top of the screen
- Tap "Sync all"
- Press "Back" twice and tap "Backup and reset"
- Under "Backup and Restore", check / uncheck the boxes next to "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore"
Restoring Contacts from a Samsung or Google Account:
- Sign in with the account used for the backup
- Go to the phone's "Settings" menu and scroll to "User and Backup"
- Tap "Accounts" and select "Google" or "Samsung"
- Tap the "email address" at the top of the screen
- If necessary, mark the "Sync Contacts" check box
- Tap "Sync Now"
Restoring Media Files
Restoring Media Files Using the Smartphone:
- While viewing the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Launch "My Files" and tap "All files" > "SD Card"
- Tap the "Menu" icon located in the upper-right corner
- Tap "Select" and mark the check boxes associated with the files you wish to restore
- Tap the "Menu" icon again and select "Move"
- Select "Device storage" and tap "Move here". NOTE: to move the files to a different location, tap the folder name or tap "create folder"
Restoring Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Establish a USB connection between your computer and the Note 4
- Swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
- On the computer, click "Open device to view files"
- Navigate to the desired target location on your Galaxy Note 4
- Open a secondary Windows Explorer window and locate the backed up files on your computer
- Drag the files and drop them on your phone's storage
- After the transfer is done, safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer
Restoring Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Connect your Note 4 to your Mac via USB
- Swipe the "notification" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "media device" check box
- Launch Kies on the Mac and click the "Back up / restore" tab
- Click the "Restore" tab and mark the check boxes associated with the "Music" and "Photo" options. Optionally, check the "Select all items" option to restore all your files
- Click "Restore" and follow any additional prompts if necessary
- After the process is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer
