Back Up Applications:
- Press "Menu" from the home screen
- Go to "Settings"
- Tap the "Accounts" tab
- Tap "Backup and reset"
- In order to proceed you need to be signed in to a Google account. If necessary tap "Backup account" > "Add account"
- Check the boxes associated with "Backup my data" and "Backup account"
Back Up Contacts (Using a Samsung or Google Account):
- Tap "Contacts" on the home screen
- Press "Menu" and tap "Merge accounts"
- Tap "Merge with Google" or "Merge with Samsung"
- Sign in to your Google or Samsung account
Back Up Contacts (on the SD Card):
- Ensure the proper SD card is inserted
- Tap "Contacts" on the home screen
- Press "Menu" and tap "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
- Tap "Menu" > "Import / Export"
- Tap "Export to SD card"
- Make sure you remember the backup file's name for future use and tap "OK"
Back Up Media Files
Using the SD Card:
- Tap "Apps" on the home screen
- Open "My Files"
- Tap "Device storage". NOTE: to back up all of your files, press "Menu" > "Select all" and skip to step 5
- Navigate to the desired folders and mark the check boxes associated with the media files you want to back up
- Tap the "Menu" icon and select "Copy", or tap "Move" to avoid creating duplicates
- Tap "SD memory card"
- Navigate to the desired backup folder and tap "Paste here" or "Move here"
Using a Windows Computer:
- Connect the Galaxy V Plus to the computer via USB
- Swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device (MTP)"
- From the AutoPlay window on the computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Locate the media files you want to back up (NOTE: the "Card" icon represents the SD storage whereas the "Phone" icon is associated with the phone's internal memory).
- Copy the media files you want, and paste them in the desired backup location on your computer
- Once the transfer is done eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone
Using a Mac Computer:
NOTE: Skip the first 2 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac
- On the Mac, use your Internet explorer to navigate to Kies
- Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen prompts to install Kies on the Mac
- Connect the V Plus to your computer via USB
- Swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device"
- Launch Kies on the computer and click the "Back up / restore" tab
- Click the "Backup" tab
- Mark the check boxes associated with "Music", "Photo", and / or other directories containing media files
- Click "Backup"
- Once the process is done, drag the phone's virtual storage drive to the "trash can" / "eject", and safely disconnect the phone from the computer
