Enable Power Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “System” and tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Power saving mode” and set the feature to “ON”
  5. Select a battery percentage for Power Saving Mode to enable automatically

Turn Off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:

NOTE: To improve battery life in the long run, you can disable the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Connections”
  3. Tap “Tethering & Mobile hotspot”
  4. Disable Hotspot by tapping the switch to “OFF”
  5. Go back to the home screen and swipe the “Status” bar down
  6. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” (GPS) tiles to disable these features

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Under “Device”, tap “Display”
  3. Tap “Screen timeout” and select a lower value, like “15 seconds”
  4. If necessary, disable “Automatic brightness” from the “Display” menu
  5. Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease brightness

Turn Off Background Data:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Connections” and tap “Data usage”
  3. Tap “More” > “Restrict background data” > “OK”

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Certain third party apps can affect your phone’s battery performance even if you don’t use them – assuming that these apps run regular background processes. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps you might be able to gain a bit of extra battery life.

  1. Open “Settings” and tap “Applications”
  2. Tap “Application manager”
  3. Go to “Downloaded” and select the desired app
  4. Tap “Disable” / “Force stop” to turn the app off
  5. To remove the app completely, tap “Uninstall”

Use 2G instead of 4G Connectivity:

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Connections” and tap “more connection settings”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Network mode”
  4. Enable “GSM only”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By setting your accounts / phone to sync less data / less often, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  3. Select an account
  4. Clear the check boxes next to the sync options you want to turn off
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

Keep the Software Updated:

NOTE: Certain software updates can improve battery life, so it’s recommended to keep your phone up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “About device” under “System”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available. If it is, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it
