Enable Power Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to System and tap Battery
- Tap Power saving mode and set the feature to ON
- Select a battery percentage for Power Saving Mode to enable automatically
Turn Off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: To improve battery life in the long run, you can disable the phones connectivity features when they are not in use.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Connections
- Tap Tethering & Mobile hotspot
- Disable Hotspot by tapping the switch to OFF
- Go back to the home screen and swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location (GPS) tiles to disable these features
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Go to Settings
- Under Device, tap Display
- Tap Screen timeout and select a lower value, like 15 seconds
- If necessary, disable Automatic brightness from the Display menu
- Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease brightness
Turn Off Background Data:
- Open the Settings menu
- Scroll to Connections and tap Data usage
- Tap More > Restrict background data > OK
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third party apps can affect your phones battery performance even if you dont use them assuming that these apps run regular background processes. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps you might be able to gain a bit of extra battery life.
- Open Settings and tap Applications
- Tap Application manager
- Go to Downloaded and select the desired app
- Tap Disable / Force stop to turn the app off
- To remove the app completely, tap Uninstall
Use 2G instead of 4G Connectivity:
- Access Settings
- Scroll to Connections and tap more connection settings
- Tap Mobile networks > Network mode
- Enable GSM only
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By setting your accounts / phone to sync less data / less often, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select an account
- Clear the check boxes next to the sync options you want to turn off
- Tap Menu > Sync now
Keep the Software Updated:
NOTE: Certain software updates can improve battery life, so its recommended to keep your phone up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:
- Go to Settings
- Tap About device under System
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available. If it is, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it
